A NOTE ABOUT THESE EVP's: Most of the BPG uses the Audacity audio editing program to analyze and edit their audio recordings. You may notice sudden changes in volume, clarity, etc. while listening to the recordings. Many of the EVP's have been edited for time. For example, long silences between questions and any voice phenomena may have been edited out.
Often, EVP's are quite soft and difficult to hear. In these cases, sections of the recordings where the phenomena occurs may have been amplified and cleaned with audio clarifying filters to remove noise, allowing the listener to more cleary hear what is being said. THE BPG HAS NOT - AND NEVER WILL - FAKE AN EVP OR DECEPTIVELY INSERT VOICE PHENOMENA INTO A RECORDING.
While in the boiler room in the basement of the Houghton Mansion, Josh tries to communicate with A.C. Houghton and states: "I know you said earlier that you didn't want us here." Greg captured this immediate, direct response in this EVP...."Get out".
November 2006: Again in the basement of the mansion, Josh asks: "What's your name?" In the background you hear Nick and Greg. Nick is reacting to seeing tiny, moving balls of light. (These strange lights have also been seen by multiple witnesses, simultaneously, in John Widder's room.) During this phenomena, you hear odd waves of noise overtake the recording.
January 2007: Location: Mary's room - Houghton Mansion. Josh asks the spirits how many people do they see and states that there was 5 living people in the room. You then hear a male voice saying what sounds like “Thirteen”.
January 2007: Recorded in the third floor locker room of the Houghton Mansion. Josh warns that he is about to shut the recorder off and asks the spirits if they have anything to say that they should say it now. After Josh is finished talking, you hear what sounds like a whispering voice say "Leave the tape on".
New England Ghost Project EVP Specialist Karen Mossey captures this EVP in the Houghton Mansion. She asks "Are you aware of our presence here?" The response: "Yes...keep away".
At the Charlemont Inn, Greg asks: "Are you here with us now?" Immediately following you can hear what we believe is a male voice saying "Twelve o'clock". Was it an entity asking us to return at the "witching hour"?
At the Leavitt Cemetery in Charlemont MA., Josh points out to Greg that a headstone nearby was that of a Past Master Mason. Josh says “past master”. The evp that follows sounds like an enthusiastic “yeah”. Both investigators agree that it’s not either of their voices.
Again at the Leavitt Cemetery, Josh asks the spirits: “If you have a message you would like to give to the living please do it now”. You then hear a voice or whisper which sounds like “night”.
March of 2006 - Mary's room in the Houghton Mansion. Greg asks: "Do you know that you're dead?" Then Josh says "We just want to talk to you." Following this, in a very soft whisper, you can hear "He knows I'm dead". Spliced into the end of the recording is a repeat of the section with "He knows I'm dead", enhanced with Audacity's filters.
Late winter 2007 - Mary's room in the Houghton Mansion. Greg and Josh are the only ones in the mansion. Greg speaks, then Josh says "Yeah." Following this, in a very soft whisper, you can hear what we think is "Greg" and again - more softly - a couple of seconds later.
